Welcome to the DUC

We are the Denver Uke Community, a vibrant collective of ukulele enthusiasts in the Denver area. As the Denver Uke Community leadership team, Steven Wheeler, Cindy Nance, BLC, and Doug Brown orchestrate monthly gatherings at Swallow Hill Music Association, bringing together ukulele aficionados of all skill levels. Whether you're a beginner navigating the chords for the first time or a seasoned player who can make the ukulele truly sing, the DUC welcomes everyone.

The monthly meetups, scheduled at 10:30 am on the third Saturday of each month, serve as a melting pot of musical diversity. From the sweet melodies of Hawaiian tunes, down-home feel of a country tune, to the occasional punk rock anthem the Denver Uke Community embraces a wide range of musical genres. Yet, it's not just about following a set playlist; it's about the collective spirit of sharing. Members are encouraged to bring their own tunes, creating an atmosphere of creativity and collaboration.

The DUC embodies the belief that music is a universal language that brings people together. Whether you're strumming your first chords or showcasing your mastery of the ukulele, the Denver Uke Community eagerly awaits your presence at the next gathering. Join the musical camaraderie, make new friends, and let the ukulele chords resonate with the joy of shared music-making. We look forward to seeing you this month – let's create harmonious memories together!

OUR NEXT MEETING is a special 5th Saturday Meeting and will be on - SATURDAY, MAY 30, 2026 - at Swallow Hill from 10:30AM - 12:30PM. At the fifth Saturday meeting this month, Wheels will be teaching a short class on "Playing up the Neck." Topics to be covered include movable chord shapes, how to use those shapes to play chord inversions, and how they can be used to transpose songs to other keys. Some tutorial material has been uploaded to the monthly song uploads directory and is available by clicking on the following link: "Playing up the Neck." It would be useful to at least give that a quick read before the meeting. Look in your inbox for the MAY 30th SATURDAY newsletter around the 24th of MAY.

If you find you are not receiving the newsletters, please check your spam folder. The emails are coming from clee dot nance at gmail.com. If you have Gmail, you can set up a filter so emails from Cindy DO NOT go to your spam folder, HERE'S HOW: Log into your Gmail account on the web, click on the setting icon (sprocket in the upper right corner), then click on See all settings. Across the top, you'll see Filters and Blocked Address - click on it. Scroll to the bottom and click on Create a new filter. On the From line, enter Cindy's email address then click on Create Filter. In the next window, click on the box next to Never send it to Spam, then on Create Filter. That's all there is to it. Other email services will have something similar.

NEW! Drag and drop your song files directly to Doug's Google Drive.
